I really enjoyed my interview this week with Hope Warshaw for Diabetes Sisters.
Here is a brief blurb from the interview that will be posted under the “Hot Topics” section of the DS website.
Hope Warshaw, MMSc, RD, CDE, BC-ADM, is a nationally recognized dietitian and certified diabetes educator. She is a contributing editor for Diabetic Living, published by Better Homes and Gardens, and has authored numerous books about diabetes for the American Diabetes Association. Her latest book, for ADA, The Real-Life Guide to Diabetes, co-authored with her nurse diabetes educator colleague Joy Pape, RN, BSN, CDE, WOCN, CFCN, takes a realistic approach to managing the daily challenges of living with diabetes. Fully illustrated and filled with charts, drawing and photographs, The Real-Life Guide to Diabetes is readable, informative and honest.
After talking with Hope I was jealous that she wasn’t my CDE….she is really knowledgeable and I appreciate her focus on dispelling a lot of the myths surrounding diabetes in her latest book. Hope and I shared some laughs about the myths we’ve run into in our experience with diabetes….better to laugh than to cry right?
Check out her website and her book. (www.hopewarshaw.com) Even though I am not a huge fan of the typical ADA books, this one really is a guide I can imagine myself using.
