I was thrilled to read the article, “You Can’t Be Afraid To Try” by Missy Foy in Sunday’s Parade magazine. Missy writes about being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 33 years old and her struggle to adjust to the challenges of her new life. Missy is a professional runner, a marathoner who in the year 2000, became the first diabetic athlete to qualify for the U.S. Olympic marathon trials. It is so refreshing to read a story about a strong, healthy female with diabetes! It’s about time! Go Missy Foy!
